I hinted at it after their show at The Middle East Downstairs and I’ll say it clearly now: Parlour Bells’ new material is sounding tr… tr.. tr… What’s the word I’m looking for? Oh, right. Truly fantastic.
What’s the proper way to usher your new album into the world? Well, Aloud celebrated the release of It’s Got To Be Now with a 19 song blowout of a set at a packed Middle East Upstairs. That seemed to work out pretty well.
The Field Effect are working on a new album. If the songs they played at The Middle East this past Friday are any indication, it’s going to be a goodie. If they’re not an indication, then expect a record of sweet Anne Murray covers.
The Bynars are creating some of the most inventive electro-tinged power pop out there. Each undeniable hook is balanced with a well-timed glitch to keep you on your toes. They were at The Middle East Upstairs this past Friday night.
Frenetic and entertaining, Answerman put on quite a show at TT’s. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday night.
Rusty Shovels kept a Sunday night at TT’s rolling along, kicking up dust the whole way.
Rock ‘n’ roll on a Sunday night at TT’s. The Swindlers got things going on the right foot.
Will Dailey closed out the final Rock-n-Romp of the season. This guy is loaded with talent. I want to say he’s a natural up on stage, but I suspect there’s a lot of hard work involved, too. Will and his band engaged young and not-so-young alike with heartfelt tunes* and an easy going way.
* Including a smooth cover of “I Would Die 4 U.”
A rainy Saturday was the perfect time to squeeze in one more Rock-n-Romp for the season. Destry got things going at The Sinclair with their laid back, ’60s-inspired pop.
