You want new music? Fine.

OK, hold on a sec. Here I am trying to crank through all of these photos I’ve got from the Pipeline! at 25 shows and y’all are releasing cool new music left and right. What a week. Damn you Bob Dubrow for getting so many bands to reunite! Damn you Boston musicians for being so prolific!

While I continue to edit photos, here are some new sounds for your earholes* from Magen Tracy, Young Adults and The Curtis Mayflower. I’m even throwing in a Thin Lizzy cover from Feints and a classic duet from Nate Leavitt and Ruby Rose Fox at no extra charge. Enjoy.

* And some sights for your eyeholes!

Pinch me! Daykamp Music has been nominated for a Boston Music Award!

In between back to back seven band bills at The Middle East Downstairs for the Pipeline! at 25 shows this past weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Daykamp Music is one of the 2014 Boston Music Awards nominees for Best Music Blog.

We’re lucky around these parts to have such a vibrant music scene. Part of that is having sites like Allston Pudding, Boston Hassle, Guestlisted with Jed Gottlieb and Vanyaland spreading the word about the artists they love. I thank them for turning me on to bands I may never have known about otherwise. Being recognized alongside them? That’s pretty special.

Voting for the Boston Music Awards is now open. The link is right here. Go let them know who your favorites are. Maybe you’ll consider voting for Daykamp Music. I’d really appreciate it. Just in case you’re unsure of what to do, I included this little graphic which will certainly make Nicole Anguish over at Daykamp Creative proud.

You’re not voting for my design skills.

And just because, here’s a list of a whole bunch of sites that regularly support the local music scene. Maybe your new favorite band is hiding somewhere in their pages.

There are now over 600 videos on Daykamp Music TV to help carry you to the weekend.

Let’s pretend it’s Friday and you don’t feel like working because you’re totally fried and you just need a break and hey you know what would be cool what if you could watch like 600 videos in a row wouldn’t that be awesome?

Yes. Yes it would. May I humbly suggest you head on over to Daykamp Music TV and click the play button. There you will be dazzled by over 600 videos from local artists. You shan’t be disappointed. Here are half a dozen snappy numbers to help get you to the weekend. This is a mere 1/100th of the total videos! Think of all the time you could kill on this thing…

Petty Morals – Cherry Ice Pop EP (2014)

Cherry Ice Pop EP
2014

I sometimes have this dream that life is an ’80s teen comedy. Everyone drives a 5.0 Mustang* or a rusted out Chevette and all the action goes down at The Mall. If you’re a cool kid at The Mall you have two things with you at all times: an Orange Julius and a copy of Petty Morals’ Cherry Ice Pop EP for your Walkman. You sang along as “Girl Gotta Do,” “You Get Me Loose” and “Shuddup” tore up the charts over the summer with their hooks and attitude to spare. The unabashed pop of “To The Edge” makes it your favorite track. You play it over and over. The clerk at Record Town says the new EP is OK, but Petty Morals will never top “Radio Action.” It’s a front. He secretly thinks the “Girl Gotta Do” remix is totally tubular. He even put it on the mix tape he gave you when he asked you out. You turned him down because he hit on your best friend last week. Besides, you have tickets to see Petty Morals play The Centrum that night.

Where to get it:

Full Disclosure: The lovely and talented Nicole Anguish of Daykamp Creative did the artwork for this gnarly EP. That doesn’t make it any less righteous.

* There may be a Trans Am or an IROC-Z in the mix.
