Here are The Sheila Divine, a band I hold in the absolute highest regard. To have them close out The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show was an honor. To have them do so while celebrating the release of their wonderful new record, The Morbs, leaves me at a loss for words. I am thankful.
Sidewalk Driver @ The Sinclair 11.25.2015
I’m crazy about Sidewalk Driver. I write about it in these pages after every one of their musically and visually dazzling performances. I can’t imagine ever loving this band more than I did watching them play The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show, but I’ve been through this before. They always prove me wrong. I’m so thankful they spent the night with us at The Sinclair.
Weakened Friends @ The Sinclair 11.25.2015
Thanksgiving Eve found us at The Sinclair hanging stuff on the walls, listening to music and having a few drinks for The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show. Weakened Friends are everything I was hoping they’d be after obsessing over their Gloomy Tunes EP. They opened the night with a loud, beautifully bummed-out, ’90s-inspired indie rock gut punch. We’re thankful to have found another new favorite band.
Black Friday is terrible. Do your holiday shopping at The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show.
The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show is next week! We’ll be hanging art and watching The Sheila Divine, Sidewalk Driver and Weakened Friends at The Sinclair on Thanksgiving Eve. There will be loads of cool new merch available at the show. You could pick up some holiday gifts right at the club. How cool is that? We made up some t-shirts with the Daykamp kitties on them. You can’t go wrong with a cat t-shirt. Why not pick up a screen print of the show poster? We’ve got ’em. There will be a silent auction to benefit the MSPCA. Up for bid are two Juliana Haltfield Three posters signed by Ms. Hatfield herself. The Sheila Divine will have The Morbs. They’ll also have a new poster of the album artwork and a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt designed by Daykamp Creative. GLOW IN THE DARK T-SHIRTS! Sidewalk Driver will have CDs and tees. Weakened Friends have limited edition cassettes. We’ll even sell you the art right off the walls! Sounds like you’ll be done with your holiday shopping early this year.
Want to join the fun? You can get tickets here. You can do the Facebook thing here. Doors at 8. Music Starts at 8:45.
Announcing The 2015 Daykamp Poster & Photo Show with The Sheila Divine, Sidewalk Driver and Weakened Friends!
Hey, does anyone remember when we did this? That was fun. It was so much fun, we’ve been wanting to do it again. We’ve just been waiting for the right time. And waiting. And waiting. And wait… it’s time! Now we’re doing this!
On November 25th we’ll be hanging out at The Sinclair with The Sheila Divine, Sidewalk Driver and Weakened Friends. Read that lineup again. I still can’t believe we suckered these bands into playing these bands agree to play the show. To make the night even more special, Nicole Anguish of Daykamp Creative will be hanging up her poster art and I’ll be displaying prints of some of the photos I can’t seem to stop taking. We’ll even have some stuff for sale if you want to turn your home into an art gallery for people obsessed with the Boston music scene.
Now, imagine all of that goodness and top it off with the fact that this show will also serve as the release show for The Morbs, the new record from The Sheila Divine! No way! Yes way!
Come hang out with us on Thanksgiving Eve. We’ll do our best to make it a good time.
Reverse @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 10.18.2013
Hmmm… how do we end The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show? There have been so many great bands playing some of their best sets over the two nights. What band can take the stage after all of that and deliver a performance that will put the proper exclamation point on the whole crazy event? What band is that good? Oh, right, Reverse…
Sidewalk Driver @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 10.18.2013
Sidewalk Driver played The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show. I was smiling so much I’m surprised I wasn’t pulling confetti out of my teeth for days. I LOVE THIS BAND.
Garvy J. And The Secret Pockets Of Hope And Resistance @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 10.18.2013
Garvy J. And The Secret Pockets Of Hope And Resistance blow my mind every time they take the stage. Their presence at The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show was no exception. Their sound bends the space–time continuum as much as it blends genres. They are diametrically opposed to themselves. Garvy J. And The Secret Pockets Of Hope And Resistance are the tranquil freak-out.
Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 10.18.2013
Whoa. That was one of the best Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling sets I’ve ever seen. The duo laid waste to their originals. They tore through a cover of Eldridge Rodriguez’s “Run MF Run.” Intense. The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show just got a kick in the pants.
Scamper(ish) @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 10.18.2013
Remember that time we asked the guys from Scamper if they wanted to reunite for Night #2 of The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show? That was a good idea. ¾ of the band* played a semi-acoustic set of Scamper hits to get things going. They also threw in a Nada Surf cover, because yes.
* Keith couldn’t make it, but we missed him terribly.
