Nicole Anguish of Daykamp Creative has been designing some amazing posters for Rock-n-Romp Boston since the event’s re-launch back in October. When she was tapped to curate the February edition of this family friendly rock show, it was no surprise that she called upon a band that gets a lot of play in the Daykamp Empire offices. Airport opened the show with their perfect mix of pop, rock, twang and ’70s AM radio nostalgia.
Airport @ Redstar Union 1.16.2014
Airport are one heck of a band. Their songs are timeless. Their performances are spot on. These guys are real desert island material. Redstar Union is the perfect venue for them. Richard Bouchard deserves some kind of award for presenting Airport in such a fantastic space.
Airport @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 10.4.2013
My goodness, do I love Airport. Every time I listen to this band I become more dependent on their glorious ’70s-radio-made sound. Here are some pictures of the band at the Boston Emissions with Anngelle Wood five year anniversary party.
Abbie Barrett And The Last Date @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.1.2013
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Abbie Barrett And The Last Date — too long for a band this good. Their set at TT’s is making me feel like I’ve been missing something.

Have I ever mentioned how great I think Airport’s songs are? Yes, I think I have. My feelings have not changed. They’re still keeping the flame of ’70s AM radio alive. They even did a cover of The Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody” to further endear themselves to me.* Well played, Airport.
* That’s why they did it, right? Right?
Eric Salt & The Electric City @ Moe’s Lounge 10.11.2012
I was really anxious on October 11th, the first day of the Bands For Babs benefit. Having “Never Intended” by Eric Salt & The Electric City stuck in my head all day helped to calm me down. After being upstairs at Radio for The Modifiers and AM Stereo, I bopped down to Moe’s Lounge to catch as much of Eric Salt and his band as I could. Just as I walked into the wood-paneled sanctuary, The Electric City kicked into “Never Intended” and everything was right in the world.
Airport – “Knot Again” @ Radio 8.19.2012
Here’s Airport playing my favorite song from their amazing record. This is how you write a pop song, folks.
Oh, and here are some pictures from their set.
Airport @ Radio 8.19.2012
Ever since I heard Go Up, Airport’s glorious take on the sounds of ’70s radio, I’ve been meaning go to one of the band’s shows. I won’t say who’s fault it is,* but I hadn’t been able to make it happen. That all changed Sunday night at Radio. I finally got to catch a set from the sonic sons of Jackson Browne, Tom Petty and Joe Jackson. It was worth the wait.
* Clearly mine. I’d be quick to point out if someone else was at fault.
Eric Salt & The Electric City @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 11.18.2011
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Eric Salt & The Electric City. Eric recently performed at the Bruce Springsteen tribute night with some of these guys, and it reminded me how well they play off each other. Tonight’s return of the full-on Electric City puts the band’s own songs in the well deserved spotlight. I’ve missed this.
Eric Salt @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 9.20.2011
Just about a year ago, the Springsteen faithful gathered at TT’s for a tribute show. The thing I remember the most about that night* was Eric Salt blowing everyone away with his version of “She’s The One”. Still one of the best covers I’ve heard. He was playing as part of Jenny Dee & Friends that night, but when they gave him the mic he absolutely stole the show… from everyone.
With that memory burned in my brain I was happy to hear that Eric Salt was taking part in this year’s Springsteen tribute. Eric and his band delivered. I’m going to propose a local club rule wherein every Bruce Springsteen tribute in the Boston area must have Eric Salt and Uke Springsteen on the bill. It’ll be like the “two-week rule”, but nobody will complain.
* Aside from playing with Jonny Pape in a band that would eventually become Paper Snakes, of course.
