Boston Rock Photos And Stuff
Gorgeous. This Blue Heaven plays Boston for the first time in a couple of years and it’s just beautiful. The new songs sound fantastic and the band is clearly enjoying the moment. It’s wonderful to have them back.
For The Motion Sick reunion show at Brighton Music Hall, each of the group’s members played an opening set with one of their other bands. First up was guitarist Patrick Mussari’s moody new outfit, Wash Pool.
The RadioBDC +1 Series found The Field Effect opening up for Black Light Dinner Party at Brighton Music Hall. The outcome? The Field Effect won over new fans by proving they’re as good as any band out there. Yup. Didn’t see that one coming.*
* Totally did.
Everything Walter Sickert And The Army Of Broken Toys do is big. Every show is an event. So what did they do for the release of their Soft Time Traveler album? They went even bigger and more event-y, of course. Have a look…
What a great night of music this has been. It’s the Walter Sickert And The Army Of Broken Toys album release show. We’ve already had killer sets by Ruby Rose Fox and The Field Effect. Now, The Rationales are closing with their song “Let It Go.” So good. So, so good.
Oh, hey, look! It’s The Field Effect blowing people away and winning over new fans. This time it happens to be at Brighton Music Hall as part of the Walter Sickert And The Army Of Broken Toys album release celebration, but it could be any one of their shows. The Field Effect have a way with first impressions. It’s fun to watch. Next week they rumble. This could get interesting.
The Walter Sickert And The Army Of Broken Toys album release party at Brighton Music Hall is giving me my first opportunity to catch Ruby Rose Fox with her full band. I was impressed when she played a stripped back set for Lounge Act. I’m doubly impressed here. The sound is timeless and the show is tight. When does The Rumble start again?
Sometimes a keytar isn’t just a good idea, it’s the best idea. One of those times is when you’re closing out the Boston Band Crush Holiday Spectacular. Freezepop was full of great ideas at Brighton Music Hall.
When Boston Band Crush puts on a Holiday Spectacular, Sidewalk Driver is going to be involved. That’s a given. The fact that this was the last show to be presented by the beloved music blog made their appearance all the more fitting. There was a lot of love in the room. There were inflatable unicorns in the room, too. Those poor inflatable unicorns.
Richard Bouchard was “dragged” on stage during “Dancing With Her Friends.” The joy of the moment was palpable. These are the moments we need to hold on to.
Friday night was a big one at Brighton Music Hall. Boston Band Crush presented their final show. Richard Bouchard put together one heck of a bill for the Boston Band Crush Holiday Spectacular. After a compelling opening set by Emily Peal And The Band Of Skinny Men, The Field Effect took the stage to release their new CD, Cartography. The band tore through a bunch of tunes from that record before busting out their Wham! cover.
Oh, one more thing. The Field Effect took the stage in holiday sweaters.* I feel like I should warn you about that before you look at the pictures.
* Which they quickly shed due to the warmth of the stage lights. At least that’s the excuse they’ll use.
