Job Creators twisted complex rhythms and intricate bass parts into creative musical moments.
Doug Orey @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.5.2013
Former teen idol Doug Orey played the songs of The Field Effect* for an adoring TT’s crowd.
* …and an Elliott Smith cover and maybe something else. I’m old and forgetful.
Nate Leavitt @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.5.2013
Good things happen when Nate Leavitt plays guitar. I’ve seen it over and over with Parlour Bells, Old Jack, The Blizzard Of 78, Brendan Boogie and Phil Aiken. He’s got a way of leaving an impression. His solo sets are no different. Listening to Nate fingerpick the hell out of his Martin on “The World Today”* made me wish the song would never end.
* From his 2011 solo EP, Inference.
Phil Wisdom @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.5.2013
Let’s all take a moment to appreciate Phil Wisdom (here are some songs he wrote with Buterknife in case you’re not sure why this is such a good idea).
…
OK, I feel better now.

Abbie Barrett And The Last Date @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.1.2013
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Abbie Barrett And The Last Date — too long for a band this good. Their set at TT’s is making me feel like I’ve been missing something.
Blackbutton @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.1.2013
Three Day Threshold @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.1.2013
Airport @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 2.1.2013
Have I ever mentioned how great I think Airport’s songs are? Yes, I think I have. My feelings have not changed. They’re still keeping the flame of ’70s AM radio alive. They even did a cover of The Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody” to further endear themselves to me.* Well played, Airport.
* That’s why they did it, right? Right?
Aquanutz @ Johnny D’s 1.26.2013
So, yeah, Aquanutz. I grew up on this stuff*, so I’m predisposed to like it. Hair metal is a thing for me. Plus, you guys/gals are/were in all kinds if sweet bands like Brownboot, The Decals, Gymnasium, Darkbuster, Cocked N’ Loaded, Heavy Stud, The Raging Teens, Noble Rot, Full Body Anchor, The Dents and about a thousand others. You’ve got a lot going for you. Oh, who am I kidding? You have everything going for you. I’m trying not to overplay my hand, but this friggin’ rules. You’re loose when you need to be loose and you’re tight when you need to be tight.** You rock the Whitesnake, White Lion, Poison, Bon Jovi, Lita Ford and Van Halen. I smile. I even tolerate your Scorpions.
Aquanutz, you play hair metal covers in Boston*** and I love you for it. Thanks.
* Well, this stuff, Barry Manilow, Anne Murray, Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb, anyway.
** Matt’s solo in “Wait” = tight. Damn. Note perfect. It’s rare that a guitar solo gets a genuine round of mid-song applause these days. This one was well deserved.
*** Somerville.
