I’m pretty sure this is a first. Rumble Semifinal Night #2 was rescheduled to a Monday and we’ve got a special guest to open the night!* Randy Black And The Heathcroppers are 3 Rumble alum, so they’re right at home opening the night as a non-competing guest band.

Darling Pet Munkee invaded the Braintree Newbury Comics as part of Record Store Day 2013. With kids in tow, we braved the South Shore Plaza so Little Little One could dance and Big Little One could cluck like an Arrested Development character trying to be a chicken. It was well worth it.
Brittany Butler entertained the Record Store Day shoppers picking through the Norwood Newbury Comics location with her pop sound.
Sean T. Drinkwater said Lifestyle was created to provide an escape. We could use some more of that around here these days. Their Rock ‘N’ Roll Rumble Semifinal set was a temporary and much needed distraction from reality.

The wildest band of this year’s Rumble didn’t sacrifice any pillows to the gods of rock ‘n’ roll in the semifinal round, but that didn’t stop them from raising some hell on the TT’s stage. These guys are just plain awesome.

Before things got crazy crazier mind-bogglingly out of control on Thursday night, a little thing called the Rock ‘N’ Roll Rumble kicked off its semifinal round. That honor went to Glenn Yoder And The Western States. With a set that had a slow steady build, the band showed off how dynamic they can be. They won over the judges. Glenn Yoder And The Western States are headed to the Finals.

I’ve never seen Mean Creek. Seems like a glaring omission on my part. Thanks to a last minute show put together by Richard Bouchard and Michael Marotta I was finally able to do that. Did I mention that this little quickie show raised $7,740 for the Mass General Hospital EMS Department in the wake of Monday’s tragedy? In a mere few hours, the For Boston benefit show was put together with a great bill and a sprawling raffle. People stuffed the pay-what-you-can donation box and raffle baggies. The bartenders donated their tips. Bands donated merch sales. TT’s owner Bonney Bouley made a personal contribution, as did Rumble sponsor Defunt Tees. You can read all about how all the money was raised over here. You done good, everybody. Thanks.
Oh, yeah. Mean Creek was pretty cool.
The Field Effect lift spirits every time they play, which made them an obvious and welcome addition to the For Boston benefit at TT’s. I’m glad they’re around.
