TT’s just turned 40. To celebrate this amazing milestone, the folks at the Central Square institution put together an amazing week of shows. Night #1 was hosted by Anngelle Wood of Boston Emissions. Lest anyone thing this would be a quiet and reserved affair, Await Rescue kicked things off with a parade of melodic buzzsaws.

The Life Electric @ Fort Warren 9.7.2013
Music on Georges Island? Sure, I’m in. Richard Bouchard had the crazy idea of putting on a show at Fort Warren. Bless him for that. First up on the deck were The Life Electric. The acoustic format allowed the band’s songwriting to come front and center. They sounded great.
The Field Effect @ Redstar Union 9.5.2013
I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to take in a show at Redstar Union. I’ve watched the live streams and video clips they produce and I’m always amazed at the quality. For some reason I’ve never made my way over to the slick Kendall Square performance space. Well, Brian Charles* curated last week’s The Singhs & Friends residency. His picks? Aaron Perrino and The Field Effect. OK, you got me. I’m now watching The Field Effect bounce around the Redstar stage like excited molecules powered by fancy LED lighting…
* Along with being one of the best producers in town over at Zippah, Brian runs Zippah Records and founded the fabulous Tuesday Night Recording Club with Aaron Perrino. He knows his stuff.

Aloud @ Great Scott 8.31.2013
Eddie Japan @ Great Scott 8.31.2013
This is Eddie Japan, one of the finest bands in the land. They write incredibly nuanced pop songs about the human condition. Their performances are inspired. Most importantly, they managed to fit eight people on the stage at Great Scott. OK, that’s not really the most important thing, but it is impressive.
P.S. – Eddie Japan is playing The Daykamp Poster & Photo Show Night #1 at TT’s in October. You should definitely check that out.
Ruby Rose Fox @ Great Scott 8.31.2013
Oh, hey, Ruby Rose Fox. I really enjoyed your set at Great Scott. Your voice is amazing and your band sounded great. It was cool that you had Anthony Conley from Endation come up to do your cover of “Jolene”. Who knew he could play all six strings? Your new single sounded really good, too. I can’t wait to hear more.
OK. I gotta go. Here are some pictures I took at the show…
