This midsummer night’s dream has Sidewalk Driver headlining a show at The Sinclair. Along with their usual collection of offbeat rockin’ pop songs, punched-up musical prowess and stellar showmanship, the band is onstage covering a Mellow Bravo song. RESPECT. I don’t think I could possibly love this band more than I already do.
Here we have The Venetia Fair performing at The Sinclair in all of their flamboyant, theatrical, grandiose, dirty, sweaty, riotous glory.
Salita delivered big, bone-shaking, hardcore-inspired tunes to the Sinclair crowd.
The Color and Sound are from Singalong City and they’re always ready to go. Tight and energetic with a backpack full of catchy tunes, the band lit up The Sinclair stage to kick off the Indie Rock Ranger Summer Spectacular.
Nate Leavitt sings songs about heartbreak and lost love. Thankfully, he does it in a way that makes you want to listen and actually feel pretty good. It’s a gift.
Ruby Rose Fox and her band made a big and soulful noise at O’Brien’s last weekend.
Watching an Airport show makes me feel like Benny from the Lego Movie. Just substitute “Airport!” for “Spaceship!” These guys draw from an endless well of perfectly crafted songs about modern life filtered through a ’70s AM Radio transmission.
I’ve seen Magen Tracy perform with Parlour Bells, Nate Leavitt, OldJack, St. Helena, Brendan Boogie, The Phil Aiken Army, The Sheila Divine and Bright Lights, Big Rod.* Friday night was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing her perform her own songs. Accompanied by Nate Leavitt on guitar or alone with her piano, Magen delivered powerful vocals, dynamic melodies and mature arrangements. I like where this is headed.

There was a typical early show bustle at O’Brien’s as Dan Nicklin strummed his first few chords. A moment later the crowd would be silent. Dan’s voice commanded and received the undivided attention of the crowd from the moment he began to sing.
The Life Electric took to The Middle East Downstairs stage and closed out the Western Education album release show like rock stars.
