Parlour Bells @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 7.27.2012

We here at Daykamp Music recently got to present our first show. We did so with the fine folks at Boston Band Crush. How spoiled are we? Quite. The very first band to play at one of our shows was Parlour Bells. That’s just crazy. The ‘Bells got things steamy right from the start. These debonair popsters have a dark spark that lights up whatever stage they grace. Their passionate set was a sign of good things to come.

Mellow Bravo @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 7.3.2012

Mellow Bravo is firing on all cylinders right now. They’re loud, raucous, soulful, heavy and wildly entertaining. Their new material is flat-out devastating. With the added depth these songs bring to their set, Mellow Bravo can manipulate the pacing for maximum impact. That’s exactly what they did at TT’s.

I’m down with Mellow Bravo, The Dirty Truckers, Cropduster and Murcielago playing every Independence Eve. Let’s make it a tradition.

Cropduster @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 7.3.2012

Cropduster grooves like the outer edges of a whirlpool. It’s a slow, steady draw that eventually plunges you into darkness. Their songs weigh heavy on your soul as you go under for good.

Murcielago @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 7.3.2012

Murcielago descended upon TT’s from Maine for an Independence Eve rock ‘n’ roll show. The band sparked up some excitable stoner rock thunder to kick off the evening.

Tallahassee @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 6.15.2012

Tallahassee played TT’s Friday night. It’s hotter than Tallahassee around these parts today. Coincidence? Probably. No matter. This was my first time seeing Tallahassee. It’s indie rock with some twang, stomp and singalongability. I like ’em.

The Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 6.15.2012

The Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library experimented with playing along to a silent movie they made. If this is anything like the way Mr. Epstein “experiments” with new bands, expect to see more of this in the future.

Cask Mouse @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 6.15.2012

I love Cask Mouse. I love their songs. I love their vocal arrangements. I love their attitude, energy and charisma. Most of all I love their enthusiasm. Their love for what they do makes it easy to get behind them. It doesn’t take long for the TT’s crowd to do just that.

Velah @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 6.15.2012

While some bands take years to settle into their sound, Velah seem to have emerged with a fully formed musical identity. Will they evolve over time? That’s an exciting inevitability for a unit that is so in tune with each other.

St. Helena @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 4.28.2012

It’s 6:45 on a Saturday evening. It’s still sunny out, not that you’d know it inside TT’s. It’s fitting that we’re here to see St. Helena. Sure, some of their songs have bright melodies, but there always seems to be a bit of a dark undercurrent. Art imitating life, I guess.
