This town loves Americana-tinged rock ‘n’ roll. Glenn Yoder And The Western States do that as well as anyone. They proved it with their set last night in the Rumble prelims.

Camden took the stage with a devil-may-care attitude and walked off with a win on Rumble Preliminary Night #2. The last band of the night played it fast and loose, easily putting on the most fun set of this year’s event so far. Look out!

Boy, howdy! That’s how you start a Rumble night! Endation set the bar high. They may not have won the night, but their heavy art rock blew the roof off the joint. Awesome.

Velah closed out the first night of this year’s Rumble. I continue to be impressed with their high-wire act. Somehow they remain on the tightrope, balanced between the atmospheric and the immediate. They’ve got the songs. They’ve got the sound. Impressive stuff.

The Okay Win

The New Highway Hymnal (Winner)

Wow. That was my first time seeing The New Highway Hymnal. Intense. I’d call their set hypnotic if there wasn’t such an urgency to it. They owned the night. They won over a whole bunch of new fans. They left the stage in ruins. The New Highway Hymnal took Preliminary Night #1 of the 2013 Rock ‘N’ Roll Rumble.
