Township are from another time. They may be from the past. They may be from the future. I’m not entirely sure. What I am sure of is that the slabs of riffage and rhyme they were laying down at Redstar Union last week made for one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. Good golly.
The Singhs @ Redstar Union 9.11.2014
After a summer hiatus, The Singhs were back at Redstar Union for the return of their monthly The Singhs & Friends series. The band didn’t miss a beat, effortlessly presenting one polished pop number after the next.
Doom Lover @ Redstar Union 9.11.2014
Intensity and atmosphere. Doom Lover hit on both points. Add a healthy dose of harmonies and dynamics and you’ve pulled me in.
Aloud @ Redstar Union 1.16.2014
This is how you play rock ‘n’ roll, folks. It’s heart, soul, guts and sweat. Aloud know it. It’s how they do it every time.
Airport @ Redstar Union 1.16.2014
Airport are one heck of a band. Their songs are timeless. Their performances are spot on. These guys are real desert island material. Redstar Union is the perfect venue for them. Richard Bouchard deserves some kind of award for presenting Airport in such a fantastic space.
Ryan Schmidt @ Redstar Union 1.16.2014
Ryan Schmidt is moving to Nashville. Actually, he may already be there. Or maybe he’s in a car driving there right now. Hold on. Now I’m curious. Anyway, Ryan has been making noteworthy music in these parts and will be missed. Before leaving*, Mr. Schmidt managed to sneak onto one last bill at Redstar Union. As a going away present, just for me, he played “White Horse.”** Thank you, Ryan. Good luck.
* Have we determined if he’s gone yet?
** Not just for me, but I may have been a little more excited to hear that song than I should have.
Air Traffic Controller @ Redstar Union 9.27.2013
Air Traffic Controller sure know what they’re doing. They’ve got songs and they know how to play ’em. I can see why Jed Gottlieb brought them to Redstar Union for his Fresh Hooks night.
Lifestyle @ Redstar Union 9.27.2013
Lifestyle dance party at Redstar! Jed Gottlieb brought the band here for their formidable hooks, but it was the undeniable beat that got the bodies moving.
Slowdim @ Redstar Union 9.27.2013
Jed Gottlieb is quick to shine a spotlight on local bands over at The Boston Herald. He knows what’s what. For this night at Redstar Union, Jed gathered up three acts with a penchant for writing a great pop hook. He’ll get no argument from me about his first pick. Slowdim’s debut record will certainly be on the Top 10 Albums Of 2013 list that I won’t make. These are some of the best songs in town.
Walter Sickert And The Army Of Broken Toys @ Redstar Union 9.19.2013
Walter Sickert And The Army Of Broken Toys brought steamcrunk to Redstar Union. There was even a special collaboration with Tad from Sidewalk Driver.
