If I was throwing some kind of anniversary party I’d want to have a classy band in the mix. It’s nice to feel like you’re at some kind of dignified event before the Boucharding begins. Parlour Bells filled that role at Radio’s first anniversary show with a set of their engaging noir-pop.
The Rationales @ Radio 10.13.2012
The Rationales were the first band to play at Radio. It’s only fitting that they take part in the venue’s first anniversary show. They closed their set with a song they debuted at the club’s opening. You can probably guess what it was…
The Autumn Hollow Band @ Radio 10.13.2012
It’s been too long since I’ve seen The Autumn Hollow Band. Their set at Radio’s big anniversary show reminded me of that. There is so much heart in these songs.
Cocked N’ Loaded @ Radio 10.13.2012
The lovely and talented Nicole Anguish of Daykamp Creative (who did the awesome poster for the One Year Of Radio show) had never seen Cocked N’ Loaded before this set. “My Fist Yer Face” is her new favorite song.
The Acro-brats @ Radio 10.13.2012
I’ve seen the The Acro-brats at Radio a few times. It’s always fun to watch them pick a fight with their instruments.* Their scrappy set of punk ‘n’ roll for the club’s first anniversary was no exception.
* They usually win.
Streight Angular @ Radio 10.13.2012
Hey everyone! Streight Angular just showed up at the Radio first anniversary show. Now it’s a party!
Michael J. Epstein and Sophia Cacciola @ Radio 10.13.2012
For Radio’s One Year Anniversary Party, Michael J. Epstein and Sophia Cacciola gave the early crowd a crash course in their varied musical ventures. We were treated to stripped down versions of songs that originated with The Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library, Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, The Motion Sick, Darling Pet Munkee and probably a few others that I’m forgetting. We even got to hear the stories behind some of the songs, despite being promised otherwise. Fun stuff.
Davina Yannetty & Phil Wisdom @ Radio 10.13.2012
After camping out at Radio for the two night Bands For Babs benefit, we made it back to our home away from home just in time to catch the very end of Davina and Phil’s set to open the club’s first anniversary show. I’m a huge fan of both Davina Yannetty and Phil Wisdom on their own. The fact that they enjoy doing sets together is A-ok in my book.
The Dents @ Radio 10.12.2012
The Dents were the final act of the Bands For Babs benefit. They closed out the event with a snappy set that went over big with the Radio crowd.
The Dirty Truckers @ Moe’s Lounge 10.12.2012
Hot, loud, sweaty and a little rambunctious could describe just about any Dirty Truckers gig. Confining the band and their cohorts to Moe’s Lounge made it inevitable at Bands For Babs.
