The Wrong Shapes @ O’Brien’s Pub 12.19.2013

Another cold night in Allston after a bit of snow. Sounds like the perfect time to hit up O’Brien’s for a wonderfully eclectic bill. The Wrong Shapes were first on the stage. I still can’t believe they make all of their beautiful, textured music with just two people. I love watching them create all of their layers.

Aquanutz @ O’Brien’s Pub 8.27.2013

Daykamp Music’s Top 5 Moments From Aquanutz Playing A Birthday Party

  1. Trying to guess which line of “I Remember You” would come next.
  2. There was a hairbrush. On the stage. On a mic stand.*
  3. Rodd Godd singing “Baby don’t stop / Take me to the top / And eat it like a piece of cake” while eating an actual piece of cake.
  4. “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak” sounded amazing. AMAZING.
  5. “You wanted the best… you got Aquanutz.”

* Hint: Look near Rodd Godd’s knees in the wide shots.

Fat Creeps @ O’Brien’s Pub 1.24.2013

Fat Creeps are deft dealers of fuzzed out anti-bliss. I got to O’Brien’s just as they were kicking off a night presented by the folks over at Allston Pudding. The place was already packed. For good reason. Listening to Fat Creeps’ intertwining harmonies in a sweaty rock club was the perfect remedy to the bitter cold that had descended upon the city.
