Nate Leavitt sings songs about heartbreak and lost love. Thankfully, he does it in a way that makes you want to listen and actually feel pretty good. It’s a gift.
Magen Tracy @ O’Brien’s Pub 7.11.2014
I’ve seen Magen Tracy perform with Parlour Bells, Nate Leavitt, OldJack, St. Helena, Brendan Boogie, The Phil Aiken Army, The Sheila Divine and Bright Lights, Big Rod.* Friday night was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing her perform her own songs. Accompanied by Nate Leavitt on guitar or alone with her piano, Magen delivered powerful vocals, dynamic melodies and mature arrangements. I like where this is headed.
* Oh, man. I just got all nostalgic for the MixTape shows.
Nate Leavitt @ Make Music Harvard Square 6.21.2014
Nate Leavitt’s “Taking The Long Way Home” is one fine song. Hearing it in the sun and open air of Make Music Harvard Square was a real treat.
Parlour Bells @ Make Music Harvard Square 6.21.2014
The sun was shining for Make Music Harvard Square. Songs were in the air. Parlour Bells were playing. People were smiling. Shiny Pants Guy was Shiny Shirt Guy. It was a swell day.
Parlour Bells @ Davis Square Theatre 5.10.2014
I hinted at it after their show at The Middle East Downstairs and I’ll say it clearly now: Parlour Bells’ new material is sounding tr… tr.. tr… What’s the word I’m looking for? Oh, right. Truly fantastic.
Parlour Bells @ The Middle East Downstairs 3.22.2014
Where ya been, Parlour Bells? Haven’t seen you around much lately. Oh, you’ve been writing some new tunes like “Celebrities On Ice?” In that case, take as much time as you need.
It’s good to have you back, though…
Will Dailey @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 1.23.2014
Hey, that Will Dailey sure can play guitar. And sing. And write songs. And find great players to play with. I think he’s onto something. You probably already knew that. Will and his band closed out a night at TT’s to benefit Revolution of Hope that was organized by Ryan’s Smashing Life and Boston Tweet.
OldJack @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 1.23.2014
Last month I got to see OldJack and Cask Mouse on back to back nights at The Sinclair. This made me happy. Last week I got to see OldJack and Cask Mouse together at TT’s raising money for Revolution of Hope as part of a show organized by the good folks at Ryan’s Smashing Life and Boston Tweet. More happiness. This time around, OldJack played their new record in reverse order. These new songs are really starting to hit their stride in a live setting.
The Sheila Divine @ The Sinclair 12.20.2013
All of New Parade, a Top 40 cover medley with Davina Yannetty and a holiday hoedown? The Sheila Divine gave us all an early Christmas present during OldJack’s Holiday Homage at The Sinclair.
OldJack @ The Sinclair 12.20.2013
For the second year in a row, OldJack’s Holiday Homage has brought a fantastic slate of local bands to the stage of The Sinclair. For their set (at their party), OldJack played all of the songs from their new What Is Home To You? album. What a wonderful night of music. Well done, OldJack.
