The Motion Sick recently played a reunion show at Brighton Music Hall. Phew. I never had a chance to see them in their first go ’round. I’m not sure why that is, but it seems odd to me now. I always liked their records. I’m a huge fan of their “30 Lives” video. I’ve seen Michael J. Epstein, Matt Girard and Travis Richter play in a bunch of other bands (and now Patrick Mussari after he opened this very show with his new band, Wash Pool). Now I’ve seen The Motion Sick live. They sounded great. I feel much better.
Every Parks gig feels like an event. They’ve scored some sweet slots on big shows. They’ve played with some great bands. They Rumbled. The band’s most recent show was doubly special: They opened for The Motion Sick reunion while simultaneously releasing their new 7″ single. Not too shabby.
Parks opened Rock ‘N’ Roll Rumble Preliminary Night #6 with a set of the most finely crafted tunes you’re likely to hear anywhere. High quality stuff.

Naked On Roller Skates closed out the December edition of the Brendan Boogie & The Broken Gates residency at Radio with an excitable set. Much fun was had by many.
Despite my love of their self-titled album, I’ve somehow never been able to catch Oranjuly live. My loss. Their set at TT’s was as good as I had imagined it would be.
Friday morning the world seemed a little more right…
The Future Everybody bop-badda and handclap their way into your heart in this video of “Picture Of You” from The Rosebud.
The Future Everybody opened up another fine show at The Rosebud.* Turns out their guitar based power pop with keyboard icing goes well with just about anything.
*In this case “another fine show” refers to both The Future Everybody playing first on another great bill (as they did here and here) and yet another great night at The Rosebud (like this one or this one). We’re spoiled here in Boston. You know that, right?
