This post will provide you with no enjoyment. If you don’t fall into one of those categories, or if you just can’t get enough of their glamorous stuff, here are my photos…
The Static Dynamic brought their modern sound to the ballroom at Cuisine en Locale.
I have taken thousands of photos of Sidewalk Driver. With any luck, there will be thousands more. I will fill hard drives with terabytes of glittery pixels in my quest to take a photo that captures the magnificence and wonder of being at a Sidewalk Driver show. It’s a goal I know I’m not likely to ever achieve. I’ve shared my failures here. Sometimes the unattainable is still worth pursuing.

Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents are Jeff Lynne’s dream R&B band. Or maybe they’re Darlene Love’s favorite new wave band. I can never remember which it is. No matter. They were their usual fantastic selves at The Sinclair.
I’m not really sure which words to use to describe Ruby Rose Fox that won’t sell her talents short. She’s a world class singer and performer with a crack backing band. Their Sinclair set was mesmerizing. Ruby Rose Fox can already hold an audience in the palm of her hand, yet it still feels like she’s just getting warmed up. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

Answerman has a new EP of proto-punk tunes knocking on grownup punk’s door. SWYM jangles and buzzes and tangles with fuzzes. The standout track is “No Good,” which is actually quite good. Start there and bop along to the rest if you like what you hear.

“Fields of Death”

Look, I’m not saying your survival depends on listening to “Fields of Death” by The Humanoids on repeat at a volume just a tick below hearing-damaging level, but why chance it? I mean, what if the Grim Reaper swings by unexpectedly to see how you’re doing? Throwing the horns, screaming for vengeance and showing no mercy is probably your best chance for survival. At a minimum, you’ll go out with a smile on your face.

Watching Raw Blow during The Rumble was so engrossing I became oblivious to the world around me. I’m happy to report their Slow Choke EP is just as compelling. I’m trapped in their world of frenetic energy, heavy riffs, tight harmonies and insanely precise execution. It’s loud, occasionally discordant and always riveting. Nine minutes and sixteen seconds later I am abruptly released, left alone and wanting more.
