The Hilken & Melissa Band rips. Need proof? Exhibit #1 would be their set opening for Superdrag at Brighton Music Hall last weekend. What’s not to like about a concoction of Fuzzy and Heavy Stud boiling over with pure rock ‘n’ roll energy. Nothing. There’s nothing not to like. Also, can I say how great it was to hear a reference to The Abbey Lounge ringing through the rafters in 2026? Effortlessly cool.

The Gravel Pit? Opening for Superdrag? With Ira Sebastian Elliot of Nada Surf on drums? Yes to all of it.
It was a reunion of sorts, with Superdrag, The Gravel Pit and Nada Surf having toured together in the past. It was a joyous occasion to see them all together at Brighton Music Hall.
The Gravel pit sounded great. Punchy, melodic and full of catchy numbers, the band played like old friends do. This was a lot of fun.
Last week we did a little year-end photo recap for the 246 sets we caught in 2014. Today we turn our attention to the other branch of the Daykamp Empire. Nicole Anguish works tirelessly making gig posters over a Daykamp Creative. Actually, that’s a lie. She often works herself to the point of exhaustion designing and illustrating some of the most striking show art in town.* The results speak for themselves.
