This is Airport. Bands don’t come much better. One day I hope more people realize this. Until then, I’m content to watch these guys fill The Lizard Lounge with their sweet, sweet, ’70s-radio-inspired sounds.

Gene Dante And The Future Starlets brought glitz, glamour and a love of all things grandiose to the Lizard Lounge rug.
Eric Salt and Mike Oram were on the rug as I settled in for another night of wonderful music at The Lizard. Their set of ’80s tunes included the best cover of The Cars’ “Let’s Go” I’ve ever heard. Well done.
The Girls Rock Campaign Boston fundraiser at O’Brien’s ended with a fiery Rage Against The Machine tribute set.
Solo Sexx used their infectious energy to channel Salt-N-Pepa for the Girls Rock Campaign Boston fundraiser at O’Brien’s. They even added a few songs of their own for good measure.
Tackling the works of Ronnie James Dio should not be taken lightly. AjDIO is clearly invested in doing the legend justice. Ajda the Turkish Queen’s vocals were front and center, but it was her uncanny knack for RJD’s mannerisms that turned the set into performance art. The band was locked in. The guitar tones were spot on. On top of that, the whole night was put together to raise money for Girls Rock Campaign Boston. What’s not to love here?
A few years ago I saw Neon Angel do a set as The Runaways at Radio. This year, the Girls Rock Campaign Boston fundraiser at O’Brien’s brought back a couple of familiar faces for more Runaways fun. Queens Of Noise ripped it up.

So when Bert from Sesame Street, Super Chicken, Barry Gibb, Vincent Vega, Buddy the elf, the milkman, a flapper, Mr. Moxie, Matthew Crawley, The Penguin and Brendan Haley J Mascis a wizard guy get up and play some Stones, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and ‘Mats covers you shouldn’t be surprised. No, instead you should be thankful you have a pocket camera and snap a couple of pictures.
Oh, and you haven’t lived until you’ve seen Bert sing “Here Comes A Regular.”
