Airport are one heck of a band. Their songs are timeless. Their performances are spot on. These guys are real desert island material. Redstar Union is the perfect venue for them. Richard Bouchard deserves some kind of award for presenting Airport in such a fantastic space.
Ryan Schmidt is moving to Nashville. Actually, he may already be there. Or maybe he’s in a car driving there right now. Hold on. Now I’m curious. Anyway, Ryan has been making noteworthy music in these parts and will be missed. Before leaving*, Mr. Schmidt managed to sneak onto one last bill at Redstar Union. As a going away present, just for me, he played “White Horse.”** Thank you, Ryan. Good luck.

My 2014 started off with another wickedly diverse bill presented by Park Slug. First up was a densely sparkling set from Beauchene Skulls.
Well, here we are again. I’ve finally gotten through all of my photos from 2013. Time for another list-free, favorite-free, best-of-free recap. Just one photo from each of the 277 sets I caught during the year. In order.
So, how was the year that was? Pretty great. I saw a bunch of amazing shows. I probably missed even more. I had a lot of fun. Thanks for that. It’s impossible to put into words how vast and wonderful our music scene is here in Boston. That’s why I bring my camera with me. I hope you like the pictures.
Tallahassee have big, big hearts. The holiday show that they put on at The Sinclair was the kind of event that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. They even brought along Mellow Bravo, The Field Effect and Cask Mouse to make sure I was entertained all night. Thanks, Tallahassee. That was a great way to end 2013.
I couldn’t let one more chance to see Mellow Bravo in 2013 slip away. They’re the root’n toot’n-est. They blew the roof off The Sinclair with another humdinger of a set.
