Eddie Japan @ Radio 11.12.2011

Eddie Japan brought their horn-tinged moody pop to the Radio stage.

Bozmo @ Radio 11.6.2011

Sunday night shows aren’t supposed to be this good. I’ve already seen fantastic sets by The Fagettes and Thick Shakes. Now Bozmo are blowing the roof off of Radio. What a great night for rock n’ roll.

Thick Shakes @ Radio 11.6.2011

Thick Shakes have a great garage rock sound. It’s dead on, but not put on. It’s just who they are. Guitar, bass, drums, Farfisa and some catchy tunes. I like it.

The Fagettes @ Radio 11.6.2011

I’ve raved about The Fagettes recordings before. Now I’m going to rave about them as a live band.

The Fagettes are loose, wailing and willing. This band turns old school rock n’ roll tricks like nobody’s business. Dynamite.

Jim n Nichole @ Radio 11.3.2011

More pop songcraft on display in the basement of Radio with Jim Gerdeman(The I Want You) and Nichole Ferree(Orange Nichole).

Tad & Kate @ Radio 11.3.2011

I want Tad & Kate to sing me to sleep so I will have beautiful dreams of hobos and fire raining down from the sky.

The Wrong Shapes @ Radio 11.3.2011

When I first saw Bo & Rachel they hadn’t yet decided on what to call their musical partnership. They’ve now decided to go with The Wrong Shapes. Their name may have changed, but the music is still mesmerizing.  The guitar and cello interplay is hypnotic. I find the whole thing rather fascinating.

Beautiful Weekend @ Radio 11.3.2011

It’s a Thursday night at Radio and I’m bouncing between floors. I came here tonight to catch the first show in the new downstairs lounge. Since I’m here, I figure I’ll check out the benefit for The Boston Initiative to Advance Human Rights going on upstairs.

I manage to catch a few songs by Beautiful Weekend. The sound is eerie and warm, slowly rising over the din of the bar. It hangs in the air, inviting in anyone who wants to listen.

Chris n Kate @ Radio 11.3.2011

Did you know that Radio has a downstairs lounge? They do. Chris n Kate (from Kingsley Flood and Just Rice, respectively) were the first people to perform down there.

The first show in Radio’s other performance area was like hanging out in a basement with friends, drinking beer and listening to music. There’s wood paneling. It works.
