These Wild Plains have packaged up their Evils and “Break Your Heart” EPs (along with the previously-unheralded-on-these-pages-but-equally-as awesome Hey, To Clear The Air EP) into an easy to consume self-titled collection. Now you can get lost in all of their warm, haunting, heart-breaking, fuzzy, twangy, reverb-drenched songs without interruption. Although, I’d gladly get up to flip over the record if they pressed this thing on vinyl.

Fireking are making a big noise at The Midway to celebrate the release of their “Double Trouble” album on double vinyl.
It had been far, far too long since I had last seen Watts. If there was any doubt, the opening riff of “20 to 12” drove the point home with gusto.
John Powhida has a gift. His solo set at The Midway for the Fireking vinyl release show was 40 of the most entertaining minutes of my 2015. J-Po’s keen life observations and his ability to make the mundane musical is unrivaled in this town.

September’s edition of the The Wrong Shapes’ Single of the Month series is a twisted Disney funeral dirge. The frightening and fanciful “Faith In Make-Believe” drifts through the darkness, finding its light in an undeniable chorus refrain. This is some dark magic.
