The Easy Reasons – “Williamsburg” (2016)

The Easy Reason’s latest is a slow-burn cousin to their first. “Williamsburg” has the same live-on-the-edge sense of abandon as “Piece,” their debut single from a couple of years ago. Both songs rip when they want to, but experience finds the group a little darker, a little dirtier, a little more content to take their time. They’re deep in it on this one. Drivin’ to fast with your brakes cut loose. I’ll keep The Easy Reasons.

The Easy Reasons keep it gritty and raw on their latest single. “Southern Boys” lives for its hook. It’s a good one. After a snappy verse with chiming guitars and wistful lyrics, the chorus throws down with a wall of overdriven chords and a big vocal. Good luck getting that out of your head.

The Easy Reasons – “Piece” (2013)

“Piece” introduced The Easy Reasons as a band to watch last fall. A roughed-up riff and the opening line “If you loved me I don’t know what I would do” stick immediately. The verses are simple and effective, leading to the big payoff — that chorus. Listen as The Easy Reasons serve up thick guitars and fiery vocals from the days of smoky bars and muscle cars. Shades of “Gimme Shelter” color the sound. It’s dark. It goes for the gut. That’s a rock ‘n’ roll hook, right there.
