Ad Frank And The Fast Easy Women @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 7.22.2015

While I would see one more band before this beloved institution turned the lights out for the final time, Ad Frank And The Fast Easy Women would be my true goodbye to T.T. The Bear’s Place. I will forever link Ad Frank and TT’s in my mind. The first photo I ever had published was of Ad Frank on that stage. The Fast Easy Women’s farewell show was one of my all time favorite musical experiences. He was there when I first started started seeing bands play in front of that mural. He’s was there at the end. Goodnight, TT’s.

Permafrost @ T.T. The Bear’s Place 9.8.2013

This. This right here. This is why I go to shows. Sometimes I fall in love with a band. Inevitably, that band will break up. I’ll be sad. I hope things end amicably, because then there’s a chance. A chance. There’s a chance that this band who made the music that helped me get through the day will play another show and I’ll be lucky enough to be there. Maybe for the 40th anniversary of the club they cut their teeth in. Maybe the set will be cut short, but I’ll be happy. I got to hear Permafrost play “We Are Not Friends Anymore” for the first time in ages, after all. I go to shows to make memories. Sometimes I even get to relive them.

The 360’s @ Radio 7.7.2012

I knew very little about The 360’s heading into this show at Radio. I was still quite excited to see them. Why? Because Linda Scurvyann Bean Pardee plays bass with them. She’s got good taste. Every band she’s ever played with rocks out like they’re the last decent band on the planet.^* The 360’s are no exception. They’ve got some great songs that they perform with fervor. Audrey Clark (vocals/guitar) and Eric Russell (guitar) play off each other while Linda and Ian Clark (drums)^**, Audrey’s son, hold everything together. No wonder The 360’s have been held in such high regard around these parts for so long…

^* Everyone who has ever seen Linda play with Ad Frank And The Fast Easy Women, Orbit, Frigate, Permafrost or Helicopter Helicopter knows this to be true. This is a partial list. Mentioning all of the bands she has rocked out with would cause the server to melt down.

Orbit @ Paradise Rock Club 6.30.2012

Throughout Orbit’s set at We Want The Airwaves: A WFNX Tribute there was an enthusiastic gentleman shouting praise at the band. While his language was rather colorful, I agreed with the general sentiment: Orbit was great. The band complimented their own classic originals (including “Medicine” and “Bicycle Song”) with a cover of The Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” that played well to a crowd basking in ‘FNX nostalgia.

And now we say goodbye to Ad Frank And The Fast Easy Women. Their farewell set will forever stay in the memories of all the jilted lovers and hopeless romantics that packed the room. It truly was a thing of beauty.
