John Powhida International Airport @ Radio 10.7.2011

John Powhida International Airport closed out opening night at Radio. J-Po brought along an entirely different flight crew since the last time I saw him.* One thing remains constant**; you can’t swing a funny bunny on stage at a JPX show without hitting a talented musician.

Also worth noting: Radio is awesome! Congrats to everyone who helped get the place off the ground (including owners Aimee McGrath and Josh Banville and booking agent Ashley Willard).

* Come to think of it, both Rudds shows I’ve seen this year had entirely different line-ups.

** You know, besides Mr. Powhida himself. So I guess two things. Oh, and the songs. Three things. Everything else changed, though. I think. I’m not so sure anymore.

The Rudds @ The Rosebud Bar 3.18.2011

What better band to close out Aimee McGrath’s birthday celebration at The Rosebud than The Rudds? This was a fun way to end the night.

Aimee McGrath’s birthday celebration at The Rosebud continues with Watts…

What’s on tap?

So you want to know what’s on tap for next week? Well, I’ll tell you.

I’m still trying to get caught up on 2011 shows, so be prepared for another action packed week. I’ve got a lot more to share with you from Aimee McGrath’s birthday shindig at The Rosebud. How about a video of The Irreverends doing “Annalise”? Sounds good, right? It is. Very good. Photos and video from Watts and The Downbeat 5? Yup. The Rudds? Check. If things get really nutty I may even make it to some photos of Jordan Valentine And The Sunday Saints. Crazy.

That’s it for this week. Have a good weekend!

The Irreverends @ The Rosebud Bar 3.18.2011

The Irreverends have another of their semi-regular reunions, this time to kick off a birthday celebration in honor of The Rosebud’s Aimee McGrath.

These guys lay it all out there. Adam White is focused as he spins his tales. Chris Keene is absolutely on fire behind the drums. John Brookhouse is a guitar monster, bleeding solos out of his 335. Jason Murray, lead guitar player for The World Famous Dirt Mall Rock & Roll Band, doesn’t miss a beat filling in on bass (with a torn ligament in his thumb, no less).

Well done, gentlemen.

Hopefully The Irreverends will continue this tradition of getting together every now and again to remind people how good they are. Now if only they’d release that unfinished album…
